Firsts

I added a comment to one of my own posts for the first time last night. In “Path To A Site Icon” i wrote about making my first site icon. It was also the first time i tried pinging sites i linked to in the post. I had to enable pingback from the Options > Discussion, because the checkbox to enable it per-post was removed somewhere along the way since 1.2. I linked to several sites, including a few “internal” posts i had written on this site. It took a while, probably a few minutes, to publish the post after i hit the button—a little longer than i expected. Afterwards, the local post received the ping and added a pingback entry in the comment area. But the other links didn’t appear to get the ping. Not sure if it went into moderation or something, or if it just didn’t go through. I’ve been reading about problems with pingbacks in the forums and on the hackers list.

So i’m going to ping this “official” test blog, to see if it receives the ping. If not, then i’ll have to fix something. I don’t even know if my site receives pings, but i’m not worried about that part right now.

  1. Well, for some reason pings to external sites don’t appear to be working. The internal ping was received fine, just like last time. The test blog post wasn’t updated.

I’m searching through mosquito, trying to figure out whether this was broken in this nightly and since fixed in the 1.5 release. I need to upgrade regardless, but i’ve also read of other pingback problems in 1.5 that i might not want to “upgrade” into.

  1. No trackbacks yet.
