Stay (2005)
So sad the second time around. Still amazing though. Truly incredible visuals, and fun to watch. I need to pick this up and study the editing—the conscious use of “incorrect” editing techniques, and other devices that make the viewer uncomfortable. The dude from The Notebook is great.
At the end of the credits it says it was shot entirely in New York City, which was interesting to me because there were so many locations that i had never seen before in film—not the usual New York backdrops—or at least not shown in the usual way.
Hmmm. So I should have seen this ay? I was not excited about it at all especially since i could not place it in my mind. Maybe I will give it a little try….
I went into this at the theater blind. Maybe saw one or two TV spots, but didn’t know anything about it. The alternative was the Zorro sequel, which i refused to see. It was nice to have no preconceptions or biases. I came out very satisfied. Probably the most memorable film i saw last year.
