The g-series are nice looking cameras. If I'm right, I borrowed one from Shila to take pics at Kenny and Crystal's wedding several years ago. And you're right, nice zoom and consistently good pics.

I love the look of the EP-1 and size. I'd like to get something with lens versatility and enough SLR-type capacity to let me play. And perhaps attend a CO workshop with http://prizewinningphotography.com/

Current thoughts--these often change with the mood.

Just to summarize, i personally went from almost getting the Canon T2i to actually getting a Canon 7D.

After using it all summer, yes, it is much bigger and heavier to lug around, especially with several lenses. But i wouldn't trade it for anything. I still carry my PowerShot SD790 with me everywhere.

If you want power and portability, i'd take a serious look at Canon's G-series, the latest being the just-announced G12. They offer almost all of the pro features you could want as far as camera control and RAW files and HD video and swiveling LCD and flash hotshoe, with a more serious zoom lens than its smaller PowerShot siblings.

It's not quite a "pocket" camera, not as stylish looking as the Olympus, and you can't swap lenses, but it would probably do you right 99% of the time. And since the G12 was just announced, that means the G11 and G10 prices will be falling.

Ok, I keep coming back to this review. The more I look at the Olympus E-P1, the more I think I might bite the bullet and get this little guy. I want to be retro-cool. I want a more versatile camera. And I don't want to lug around a hug bag o' goods to be able to play photog in Europe.
