Minority Report (2002)

Bookended this one. Started watching it, fell asleep, then caught the last half hour. I enjoy seeing well-done futuristic visions like this. It’s neat to see what might be the everyday things in our lives in a few decades.

Minority Report is very grainy—by design, for sure. But combine that with DVD compression, and then blow it up on a large screen, and it starts to become distracting. I’ve been very cognizant of my DVD player’s output lately, wondering if an upscaling unit with HDMI would create a better picture on my HD screen.

It’s supposed to be a couple decades or so in the future, but all the cars are current models with body kits. There’s some “new” stuff, but it’s not all new. It’s incomplete and uneven. They fly a regular old helicopter, but also zip through the city on hover jet bikes. [...]
