Web Mail On Thunderbird

The Web Mail extension lets you check your Hotmail and Yahoo webmail accounts via POP using Mozilla Thunderbird. [via via] Way better than Blue HttpMail Proxy 0.4 i had been using to get at my Hotmail accounts. That ran as a service and constantly ate up a couple megs of memory, even when Thunderbird wasn’t open, and it seemed to bog down the processor when checking mail. The Web Mail extension only runs with Thunderbird, and provides the same functionality. In fact, the accounts i had set up for HttpMail worked automatically after installing the extension—they use the same settings. I had some password trouble i had to clear up by removing some old saved passwords from Thunderbird’s Password Manager. Some of my accounts had lapsed into inactivity, and had to be manually reactivated on the web before they could be accessed via Thunderbird. My only complaint is accounts on the lycos.com domain aren’t supported.
